I’ve been busy working on a news series.  I’m very excited about it.  The project is called ‘Reverence’.  A detail of the central figurative piece is above.  The surrounding paintings of koi I will post below as I complete them.

Added a new page for drawings.  They’ll mostly be life drawings from the figure sessions I attend. 

I’ve won two awards at the St. Augustine Art Association. 

A second place in the Spring 2007 Members show for Brother’s in Arms and the jurors choice award for Bent Back at the Honor’s Show which is hanging through the end of June.

Opening reception will be on Friday April 6 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

Upside Down is a collection of paintings by Matthew Bennett done during his displacement to Japan.  Not really a series, Upside Down is an accumulation of somewhat disparate works created over the last three years.  The title of the show is a reference to the artist’s state of mind while living abroad, as well as his physically inverted placement in relation to his family and friends back home.

Here is where I’ll be posting the progress of my latest portrait.  The painting is 36″ by 48″ on canvas. 

This is about three hours of work…only another 15 or 20 to go.

Well, the site’s coming along.  All of my info is up and my galleries are where they’re supposed to be, although I don’t have any info on the paintings up yet.  If you’re curious you are welcome to email me.  I’ve put up links of some great artist’s that aren’t the usual suspects you see on everyones lists.  They’re definately worth checking out.
